Lionel Messi starts on-field exercises, might rejoin Inter Miami before playoffs

Lionel Messi started person on-field training this week and might be allset to signupwith Inter Miami on the field before the end of the MLS routine season, Miami coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino stated Friday.

The 37-year-old Messi hasactually been out with a right ankle injury because Argentina’s July 14 Copa América last win over Colombia, when he went down in the 2nd half and tearfully left the field.

Messi will not play when Inter Miami hosts FC Cincinnati on Saturday and was leftout from Argentina’s nationwide group lineup for its 2 September World Cup qualifiers. He has not played for Inter Miami because July 1, however Martino stated he might signupwith the group in complete training quickly.

“He is not training with the group. But he is currently out on the field and working with the physical fitnessinstructors,” Martino stated, “and he is progressing well. It was foreseeable that he would not be with Argentina duetothefactthat he is not yet in a position to play.”

Martino included that there is no approximated date for Messi’s return, however it might come before the MLS playoffs, which start in late October.

Miami, which is veryfirst in the Eastern Conference, can clinch a playoff area with a win Saturday.
