The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is “gravely alarmed” by reports of a full-blown attack on North Darfur’s city of el-Fasher in Sudan, states a UN representative.
Guterres on Saturday called on the leader of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to instantly stop the attack, caution that any further escalation threatens to spread the dispute along intercommunal lines throughout the nation’s Darfur area, the representative stated in a declaration.
“He calls on Lt. General Mohamed Hamdan ‘Hemedti’ Dagalo to act properly and rightaway order a stop to the RSF attack,” UN representative Stephane Dujarric stated in a declaration on Saturday, referring to the RSF leader.
