Coming into the 2022 U.S. Open in Brookline, Ma., some believed Matt Fitzpatrick may have the chops to pull off the surprise and win the entire thing.

Compared to his peers, Fitzpatrick had a unique benefit: He understood the course rather well, having won the 2013 U.S. Amateur at The Country Club.
