NEW YORK — A 2nd trial of FTX creator Sam Bankman-Fried on charges not in the cryptocurrency scams case provided to a jury that foundedguilty him in November is not needed, districtattorneys informed a judge Friday.
Prosecutors informed U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan in a letter that proof at a 2nd trial would replicate proof currently revealed to a jury. They likewise stated it would overlook the “strong public interest in a timely resolution” of the case, especially because victims would not advantage from forfeit or restitution orders if sentencing is postponed.
They stated the judge can thinkabout the proof that would be utilized at a 2nd trial when he sentences Bankman-Fried on March 28 for defrauding consumers and financiers of at least $10 billion.
