Hamas’s political chief Ismail Haniyeh assassinated in Iran

Hamas’s political chief Ismail Haniyeh hasactually been assassinated in Iran’s capital, Tehran, according to a declaration from the group that runs the besieged and bombarded Gaza Strip, which blamed Israel for his killing.

Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were eliminated in the early hours of Wednesday after the structure where they were staying was struck, the declaration stated.

“The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas grieves to our excellent Palestinian individuals, to the Arab and Islamic country, and to all the totallyfree individuals of the world: sibling, leader, martyr, Mujahid Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the motion, who was eliminated in a treacherous Zionist raid on his house in Tehran,” it included.

Israel has yet to validate or reject its participation on the killing of Haniyeh, who was in Tehran to participatein the inauguration event of Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday.

But the news of the assassination triggered anger throughout Palestine and stired fears about a larger local dispute in the wake of Israel’s war on Gaza, now in its 10 month. Lebanon’s Iran-backed Hezbollah and Israel haveactually been exchanging fire over their border while Yemen’s Houthi rebels haveactually been attacking Israeli-linked ships in the Red Sea and other waters.

At least 39,445 Palestinians haveactually been eliminated in Israel’s war, now in its 10th month, with more than 91,000 injured. Israel started assaulting Gaza, appealing to getridof Hamas and kill its leaders after the group released an attack on October 7 in southern Israel that led to the killing of  some 1,139 individuals and more than 200 being taken hostage.  taking more than 200 others slave.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) likewise revealed Haniyeh’s death.

“Early this earlymorning, the house of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran was struck, resulting in his and one of his bodyguards’ martyrdom. The cause is under examination and will be revealed quickly,” the IRGC stated in a declaration, including that the attack was under examination.

According to media reports, the Hamas leader was eliminated when an “airborne directed projectile” hit a unique house for military veterans in the north of Tehran, at which he was remaining, at about 2am (22: 30 GMT on Tuesday).
