PALU, Indonesia — A smelting heatingsystem tookoff Sunday at a Chinese-owned nickel plant on Indonesia’s Sulawesi island, killing at least 13 employees and hurting lots of others, cops and a business authorities stated.
It was the newest in a series of lethal occurrences at nickel smelting plants in Indonesia that are part of China’s enthusiastic multinational advancement program understood as the Belt and Road Initiative.
Nickel is a secret element in international battery production for electrical cars.
