ATLANTA — The pilot of a bigger airplane was looking away from the tail of a smallersized aircraft when the bigger aircraft’s right wing hit the tail and knocked it over while taxiingcab at Atlanta’s airport on the earlymorning of Sept. 10, according to an airtravel security report.
The initial report from the National Transportation Safety Board states the pilot of a Delta Air Lines Airbus 350 was enjoying for approaching traffic off his left wing as he taxiedcab at about 14 milesperhour (23 kph).
“The captain suggested that, as the aircraft approached the crossway with taxiway V, he was looking straight ahead and to the left to prevent the left wingtip from impinging on opposite instructions traffic coming off taxiway V,” the report states.
