DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Yemen’s Houthi rebels fired 2 rockets targeting a Liberian-flagged container ship in the Gulf of Aden, though the projectiles sprinkled down closeby without triggering any damage, authorities stated Saturday.

The attack comes after the Houthis consistently attacked and then boarded a Greek-flagged oil tanker in the close-by Red Sea, planting dynamites on it they lateron detonated. That attack, the worst in weeks, rantheriskof a significant oil spill as the rebels’ project interrupts the $1 trillion in items that pass through the Red Sea each year over the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip, as well as stopping some help deliveries to conflict-ravaged Sudan and Yemen.

In the attack Friday night, 2 rockets tookoff in close distance to the vessel some 240 kilometers (150 miles) east of Aden, the British military’s United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations center stated.

The ship “reports all team are safe and case to next port of call,” the UKMTO stated. “Investigations are continuous.”
