LONDON — Britain’s high court ruled Thursday that an Australian computersystem researcher is not, as he declared, the strange developer of the bitcoin cryptocurrency.
Craig Wright has for 8 years declared that he was the male behind “Satoshi Nakamoto,” the pseudonym that masked the identity of the developer of bitcoin.
His claim was turneddown by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance, or Copa, a non-profit group of innovation and cryptocurrency companies, who brought the case to court.
In his ruling, Justice James Mellor stated Wright did not develop bitcoin, was not the male behind Satoshi, or the author of the preliminary variations of the bitcoin softwareapplication. Further description will emerge when Mellor’s composed declaration is released at a lateron date.
“Having thoughtabout all the proof and submissions provided to me in this trial, I’ve reached the conclusion that the proof is frustrating,” he stated, according to a court records.
During the trial, Copa declared Wright had produced an “elaborate incorrect narrative” and created files to recommend he was Satoshi and had “terrorized” those who questioned him.
A representative for Copa stated Thursday’s choice is a “win for designers, for the whole open source neighborhood, and for the fact.”
