WASHINGTON — World Bank President David Malpass stated Friday he won’t resign after coming under criticism for his remarks earlier this week concerning environment modification.
At an occasion sponsored by The New York Times on Tuesday, Malpass wouldn’t response straight when asked whether the burning of fossil fuels has contributed to worldwide warming. Instead, he stated, “I am not a researcher.”
In an interview with Politico Friday, Malpass stated he wouldn’t resign, and that he hasn’t been asked to do so by any of the bank’s member federalgovernments. He acknowledged he oughtto haveactually done a muchbetter task reacting to concerns on Tuesday, when he was asked to respond to a charge earlier that day from previous Vice President Al Gore that he was a “climate denier.”
“When asked, ‘Are you a environment denier?’ I must have stated no,” he stated.
Malpass likewise stated the World Bank is taking a “forceful management” position on environment i
