Weirdcore dives into his brand-new work Subconscious, an abstract journey into the inner mind soundtracked by Aphex Twin.
Weirdcore is a visual artist whose work hasactually been inextricably connected with electronic music because he started exploring with Max/MSP in the ’90s, illustration motivation from the early rave scene to develop lysergic visual collages. In 2004, he started to work regularly with Warp Records and its artists, which led to a long-running cooperation with Aphex Twin that continues to this day.
Weirdcore’s newest work is Subconscious, an immersive experience presently setup at Fact and 180 Studios’ brand-new exhibit Future Shock that produces the sense of stepping inside one of his developments. Its 3 unique spaces are developed to stimulate the sensation of going deep within the inner mind, where high-resolution prints are brought to life with RBG lights and a sporadic soundtrack offered by Aphex Twin.
In this movie, Weirdcore talks about the development of Subconscious, and how its unusual visual impact has its roots in his early video work and traditional rave videos. “A lot of it is influenced by infinity GIFs that I utilized to do, like things I did for M.I.A. where simply by inverting the colours you can have this sense of things coming towards you to infinity,” he states.
