With NONOTAK’s Daydream V.6 presently revealing at Fact’s Future Shock exhibit at London’s 180 Studios, we review our 2020 documentary on the audiovisual duo’s immersive work.
NONOTAK is an audio-visual partnership inbetween illustrator Noémie Schipfer and artist Takami Nakamoto. Together they’ve been checkingout area, noise and light throughout setups and live reveals because 2011, appearing at celebrations such as MUTEK, Sónar and Houston’s Day For Night.
The duo’s comprehensive brochure of works focus on the interaction inbetween Schipfer’s geometric patterns and Nakamoto’s noise style, brought to life by sensational forecasts and lighting, activated with the help of Ableton Live and Resolume.
“With NONOTAK, it’s more like illustration inside a area compared to when I was illustration on the paper or painting,” Schipfer states. Nakamoto, who is a previous designer, techniques the imaginative procedure practically like the style of a structure.
“When I compose music I constantly believe about areas or there’s constantly a sort of abstract vision going on in my head,” Nakamoto states, “and then I start to put colours or feeling in the concept I have and I start to believe about what it might noise like.”
