During a regular procedure of preservation and digitization of tapes, Sony Music Mexico audio engineer Edson R. Heredia found “Ya No Pienso en Ti,” an unreleased track by José José, out Saturday (Sept. 28) solely through Spotify Singles, on the 5th anniversary of the precious Mexican vocalist’s passing.

“It was a wonderful minute,” states Heredia, who then set out to researchstudy more about the tape-recording, finding that it was made on Nov. 9, 1978, in England, with David Hunt as the noise engineer and Tom Parker as the manufacturer.

“Ya No Pienso en Ti” — which indicates “I No Longer Think of You” — is a sincere ballad about heartbreak in which José José, with his beautiful interpretative quality, sings about his healing procedure after a breakup. “I’ve persuaded myself that a long long time ago, I lost you/ I’ve resigned myself to not counting on your love’s assistance/ I’ve gotten utilized to not lookingfor you when I missouton your heat,” he sings in Spanish.
