NBA Twitter reacts to Warriors taking control in NBA Finals with win over Celtics in Game 5

Through the first four games of the NBA Finals, Steph Curry has helped carry the Golden State Warriors against the Boston Celtics. However, on Monday night in Game 5, the reigning Western Conference Finals MVP was ice cold.

Curry tallied 16 points on 7-of-22 from the field and an uncharacteristic 0-of9 from long distance in Game 5. However, with Curry cold, his teammates answered the bell.

Along with hounding Jayson Tatum on the defensive side of the floor, Andrew Wiggins led the Warriors with another double-double. The former No. 1 overall pick exploded for 26 points and 13 rebounds in 42 minutes. Wiggins tallied 10 of his points in the final 12 minutes.

While the Warriors led throughout the first half, the Celtics stormed back into the game with a run out of halftime. Klay Thompson helped weather the run with 10 clutch points in the third quarter. Thompson finished the game with 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field with five triples, three rebounds and two assists in 39 minutes.

Behind Wiggins, Thompson, Gary Payton II and Jordan Poole, the Warriors came away with a crucial victory, 104-94.

After the Warriors took control at 3-2 over the Celtics in the NBA Finals, NBA Twitter flooded the timeline with reactions. Here’s a look at what fans, players, and analysts were saying about Game 5 on Monday night.

Wiggs is making the game look easy. He’s not forcing anything. He’s letting the game come to him but he’s still being aggressive!

Wiggins really got this game on lock!!

Warriors won this game with Steph going 0-9 from three and Wiggins, the Warriors’ leading scorer, going 0-6 from three.

Just one game after there was a massive call for more Warriors to help Steph Curry share the load, they put together their most balanced scoring attack of the series.

Wiggins: 26 pts
Thompson: 21 pts
Curry: 16 pts
Payton: 15 pts
Poole: 14 pts

With the Celtics (finally) playing to take away Curry, the Warriors needed someone else to feast on the one-on-one opportunities. Wiggins took advantage of the space to operate and got up a postseason career-high 23 shots

— Marcus Thompson II (@ThompsonScribe) June 14, 2022

Andrew Wiggins’ night is complete: 26 points, 13 rebounds. Went 12-of-17 on 2s. Capped the win with a drive and dunk. Played 43 minutes of hounding perimeter defense. Two steals and a block. Has earned every dollar of his max deal in these playoffs.

— Anthony Slater (@anthonyVslater) June 14, 2022

The Warriors clearly believe they’ve found a weak spot in the Celtics’ defense in Derrick White. They’ve spread the floor and gone at him with success

— Marcus Thompson II (@ThompsonScribe) June 14, 2022

The big question entering the night was, “When will Stephen Curry get some more help?” Well, the Warriors answered that in resounding fashion in Game 5. Curry is 6-for-20 from the field (0-for-8 from 3), and it doesn’t matter. Big contributions throughout the roster.
