Feb. 14 (UPI) — Many demonstrations were held around the globe to protest the actions of Iran’s current regime, which is accused of killing potentially tens of thousands of Iranians.
An estimated 200,000 protesters demonstrated near the Munich Security Conference in Germany, where they were addressed by Reza Pahlavi and U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.
“To President [Donald] Trump, the Iranian people hear you say help is on the way, and they have faith in you. Help them,” Pahlavi told reporters during the security conference.
Many in the crowd waved a version of the Iranian flag that existed before the Iranian Revolution.
Pahlavi is the son of Iran’s deposed Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, who ruled Iran from 1941 until being overthrown during the 1979 Iranian Revolution, which replaced the shah with the current Islamic Republic.
Saturday’s demonstrations are a response to Pahlavi’s request that those who oppose Iran’s current regime take to the streets and show it.
In London, one protester told media that she is there to support those whose lives have been lost and might be lost as the Iranian government cracks down on protesters who took to the streets amid runaway inflation and a collapsing national economy.
