When the Houston Astros and Philadelphia Phillies take the field on Friday for Game 1 of the World Series, fans are going to have the expectation of MLB appointing a qualified umpiring team. After all, there is absolutelynothing evenworse than having an real champion affected by bad umpiring.
Well, fans can breathe simple since it sure looks like MLB made as close to the right choice with the World Series team — at least on paper — as we might haveactually anticipated.
On Wednesday, MLB revealed its seven-name umpiring team, which will have Dan Iassogna serving as team chief. He’ll be signedupwith by James Hoye, Tripp Gibson, Jordan Baker, Lance Barksdale, Alan Porter and the GOAT Pat Hoberg.
