Congratulations to everyone who bought the dip on Marvin Harrison Jr. last week. The Ohio State wideout vaulted back into the Top 10 after a massive showing against Youngstown State (7 receptions, 160 yards, 2 touchdowns). Elsewhere on the board, Shedeur Sanders continues his meteoric rise and Caleb Williams continues to control his own destiny.
Let’s count ’em down.
10. Georgia QB Carson Beck, Ohio State QB Kyle McCord, LSU QB Jayden Daniels, North Carolina QB Drake Maye (+4000)
Odds Last Week:
- Carson Beck (+3000)
- Kyle McCord (+5000)
- Jayden Daniels (No Change)
- Drake Maye (+2500)
Another dip worth buying this week on Drake Maye. The UNC quarterback didn’t complete any passing touchdowns, but he did score the go-ahead TD on the ground in double overtime against an App State team that just continues to deny North Carolina an easy win. Maye passed for 208 yards, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see him to return to posting video game numbers in Week 3 against a Minnesota defense that hasn’t exactly been tested through the air yet.
9. Colorado DB/WR Travis Hunter (+3500)
Odds Last Week:
- (+2500)
Hunter is easily the most dynamic player in college football. His ability to play defense and offense makes it quite literally impossible to take your eyes off him. But as long as his QB Shedeur Sanders is throwing for an average of 450 yards and three touchdowns per game, it’s going to be nearly impossible for the two-way star to overtake his odds.
8. Oklahoma QB Dillon Gabriel, Tennessee QB Joe Milton, Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr. (+3000)
Odds Last Week:
- Dillon Gabriel (No Change)
- Joe Milton (+2500)
- Marvin Harrison Jr. (+6600)
Feels like we’re not talking about Tennessee struggling with Austin Peay enough. The Vols were up 13-6 at halftime and weren’t able to get a comfortable lead until late in the fourth quarter. Milton completed just 21 of 33 passes for 228 yards and two touchdowns against a defense he should’ve feasted on.
7. Notre Dame QB Sam Hartman (+2500)
Odds Last Week:
- (+2000)
Hartman finally had the dominant performance against North Carolina State that’s eluded him for years. The Notre Dame star passed for 286 yards and four touchdowns on the road. It just didn’t help his odds much. As long as the Irish remain undefeated and in the playoff hunt, Hartman will be safely in the Heisman conversation.
6. Penn State QB Drew Allar (+2000)
Odds Last Week:
- (No Change)
Allar has looked more than sturdy in Penn State’s first two games. He’s racked up 529 total passing yards and four touchdowns against West Virginia and Delaware. Now he’ll get a chance to carve up an Illinois defense on the road that was just exploited by Kansas’ Jalon Daniels.
5. Oregon QB Bo Nix, Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders (+1800)
Odds Last Week:
- (+2000)
Oregon’s 81-7 victory over lowly Portland State in Week 1 was never really going to do much for Nix’s Heisman chances. You don’t get credit for doing exactly what you’re supposed to in this sport. That said, he will get a ton of credit for a tough road game in Lubbock that saw him drop 359 yards passing, 46 yards rushing and two touchdowns against Texas Tech.
4. Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy (+1400)
Odds Last Week:
- (+1600)
Michigan’s 35-7 victory over UNLV wasn’t that exciting, but it was a textbook performance from McCarthy, who completed 22 of 25 passes for 278 yards and two touchdowns.
3. Texas QB Quinn Ewers, Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. (+900)
Odds Last Week:
- Quinn Ewers (+2000)
- Michael Penix Jr. (+850)
College football teams simply do not stroll into Tuscaloosa and outclass the Crimson Tide. And yet here is Texas, all the way back and handing Nick Saban his worst home loss since taking over at Alabama. Ewers led the way with 349 passing yards and three touchdowns. Most importantly, as far as the Heisman is concerned, Action Network’s Brett McMurphy pointed out that the last three QBs who beat Alabama on the road found themselves taking home the award.
If Texas pulls off upset tonight, QB Quinn Ewers could be headed to the Heisman. 3 of last 5 QBs that beat Bama & Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa – LSU’s Joe Burrow, Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel & Auburn’s Cam Newton – won the Heisman

2. Florida State QB Jordan Travis (+850)
Odds Last Week:
- (+1000)
Travis is another player who did everything he was supposed to against a much-inferior opponent. Florida State thrashed Southern Miss, 66-13, with the QB tossing two touchdowns on 175 yards.
1. USC QB Caleb Williams (+350)
Odds Last Week:
- (+450)
The reigning Heisman Trophy-winner continues to slowly move away from the rest of the pack. Unfortunately, he just hasn’t had a big enough game against a legitimate opponent to help increase that lead. Week 2 saw the Trojans demolish Stanford, 56-10, with Williams completing 19 of 21 passes for 281 yards and three touchdowns with another score on the ground.
We’ll see if he can actually pull off the repeat once USC’s schedule picks up in the next few weeks with tilts against Colorado, Notre Dame and Utah.
