BEIJING — China revealed sanctions Sunday on 5 American defense-related business in action to U.S. arms sales to Taiwan and U.S sanctions on Chinese business and people.
The sanctions will freeze any home the business have in China and restrict companies and people in China from doing service with them, the Foreign Ministry stated in a declaration published online.
It was uncertain what effect, if any, the sanctions would have on the business, BAE Systems Land and Armaments, Alliant Techsystems Operations, AeroVironment, ViaSat and Data Link Solutions. Such sanctions are frequently mainly symbolic as American defense professionals usually puton’t sell to China.
The Foreign Ministry stated the U.S. relocations damaged China’s sovereignty and security interests, weakened peace and stability throughout the Taiwan Strait and breached the rights and interests of Chinese business and people.
“The Chinese federalgovernment stays unwavering in our willpower to protect nationwide sovereignty, security and territorial stability and safeguard the legal rights and interests of Chinese business and people,” the ministry declaration stated.
