Could LeBron James and son Bronny James be teammates next year on the Los Angeles Lakers?
According to the odds, it’s possible.
In the wake of Bronny declaring for the NBA draft, while also putting his name in the transfer portal, the Lakers maintained the shortest odds to draft the younger James out of USC.
As a freshman for the Trojans, Bronny averaged 4.8 points and 2.1 assists per game. He played in 25 contests, averaging 19.4 minutes.
Bronny’s dad, on the other hand, famously skipped college and was drafted first overall by Cleveland in 2003.
Let’s check out the odds at DraftKings Sportsbook regarding where Bronny might land in the NBA next season, as well as his draft position.

While for months it appeared all signs pointed toward LeBron choosing his next NBA destination based on where Bronny was drafted, that tone from his camp has since changed, according to LeBron’s close friend and agent, Rich Paul.
Paul recently told ESPN that he puts less value on a player being drafted high, and more emphasis on them being on “the right team in the right developmental situation.”
Paul also told ESPN that the James family’s focus is no longer for Bronny and LeBron to be on the same roster, and that, “LeBron wants Bronny to be his own man.”
Outside of Bronny, the focus in Laker land has been where the elder James will end up after this offseason, considering he has a player option this summer.
At the end of April, The Athletic reported that “the Lakers are very open to the prospect of helping LeBron fulfill his dream of playing with his son Bronny by potentially drafting him.”
With LeBron’s decision to stay or go looming, FOX Sports’ Nick Wright gave his take on where the four-time champion should take his talents next season.
What should be LeBron James’ next move?
“I, as a basketball fan, would love to see him have one final arc somewhere else,” Wright said on a recent episode of “The Herd.” I think LeBron James bringing the New York Knicks to the NBA Finals for a first time in a quarter-century would be pretty great. I think he would fit in that Julius Randle spot quite well.
“I also think four rings for four franchises would be unbelievable.”
