May 15 (UPI) — At least 8 migrant employees were eliminated and numerous others were seriously hurt Tuesday earlymorning when the bus they were aboard was hit by a pickup truck on a main Florida highway.
Authorities informed pressreporters throughout a press conference that the bus with 53 individuals aboard was taking the recorded employees to a farm when at about 6: 35 a.m. EDT a Ford pickup truck tookatrip towards the center line on Florida’s Highway 40 in Marion County, triggering the 2 lorries to clash.
Lt. Pat Riordan, public affairs officer for Florida Highway Patrol, stated the cars crashed in a “sideswipe-type way.”
The bus was required off the roadway, down the turf shoulder, through a fence and into a tree, which triggered it to flip, he stated.
Marion County Fire Rescue stated in a declaration that 34 clients hadactually been hospitalized, with 8 in vital condition.
Riordan alerted that some had suffered “very major injuries,” and that there was a “high possibility” the death toll of 8 would increase.
The motorist of the truck hasactually been recognized as 41-year-old Bryan Maclean Howard. He was jailed at about 1: 47 p.m. and charged with 8 counts of driving under the impact resulting in murder, Florida Highway Patrol stated in a declaration.
