Former Michigan State University head football coach Mel Tucker is takinglegalactionagainst the university and school leaders, declaring that they wrongfully fired him last year and broke his constitutional rights after he was implicated of sexual harassment.
The federal claim submitted Wednesday in Michigan implicates school authorities of endeavor an “improper, sham examination” of accusations that Tucker sexually bugged and madeuseof rape survivor and activist Brenda Tracy.
The fit, which looksfor undefined damages, declares that Michigan State authorities broke his rights to due procedure and equivalent defense as well as his work contract with the school.
The grievance likewise competes that interim president Teresa Woodruff and athletic director Alan Haller made “false and defamatory” public declarations versus Tucker, “further ruining Plaintiff’s trackrecord, his expert standing, and his income.”

Her claims versus Tucker were made public by USA Today on Sept. 10, 2023, in a story that discussed the Larry Nassar sexual abuse scandal, the fit declares. Nassar was a Michigan State sports medicalprofessional as well as a physician at Indianapolis-based USA Gymnastics. He is serving years in jail for attacking woman professionalathletes, consistingof medal-winning Olympic gymnasts, under the guise of treatment.
Tucker’s fit competes that school authorities denied him “of his right to a private and reasonable investigative procedure” and that they “cared absolutelynothing about the damage being caused” on him.

Tucker was suspended in September and Michigan State fired him lateron that month, stating he hadactually subjected the organization to ridicule, breaching his agreement and ethical turpitude.
A resolution officer concluded in October that Tucker engaged in habits that broke the school’s Relationship Violence and Sexual Misconduct and Title IX Policy by sexually pestering and sexually makinguseof Tracy.
In January, the school rejected Tucker’s appeal of these findings. An lawyer employed by the school as an equity evaluation officer stated Tucker had stoppedworking to show mistake or predisposition.
