Metallica continued its homage to Mexican bands throughout their trek in Mexico on Friday (Sept. 28). On their 3rd of 4 reveals in the capital city, the metal legends honored famous rock band El Tri by carryingout a special cover of their popular tune “A.D.O.,” when onceagain with bassist Robert Trujillo doing the vocals.
Just as last week, Trujillo and guitarplayer Kirk Hammett stunned the 65,000 viewers collected at the GNP Seguros Stadium, according to figures from promoter Ocesa, with their own variation of a traditional from the Mexican popular songbook. On the veryfirst night (Sept. 20), Metallica paid homage to the norteño music group Los Tucanes de Tijuana by playing the tune “La Chona.” Two days lateron (Sept. 22), they honored the rock band Caifanes with their cumbia hit “La Negra Tomasa.”
“A.D.O.,” by the band led by veteran rocker Alex Lora, refers to the Autobuses de Oriente (ADO) main bus station, one of the biggest in the nation.
