NEWYORKCITY authorities imagine turning Fifth Avenue into a grand boulevard

NEW YORK — Manhattan’s famous high-end shop row Fifth Avenue is in line for a significant transformation.

New York City authorities revealed a strategy this week to change a main part of the road inbetween Bryant Park and Central Park into a more pedestrian-centered boulevard.

They propose doubling the size of walkways, minimizing traffic lanes from 5 to 3, as well as including seating locations and hundreds of trees and planters, amongst other enhancements.

The vision is to imitate renowned walking and shopping boulevards such as the Champs-Élysées in Paris.
