Shipping: Free | Delivery: Bed in a box | Trial: 100 nights | Warranty: 10 to 15 years (depending on the model)
Pros:
- Many mattress options
- Range of available features and firmness levels
- Lengthy warranty
Cons:
- Limited in-store experiences
Helix has a remarkably large selection, with six mattresses in its basic Helix lineup, which are all also available in “Luxe” and “Elite” configurations for an additional cost. The Luxe models have a few extra features, including a more breathable Tencel fabric cover, enhanced contouring and additional support layers that add an extra 2 inches in height. The Elite models feature even more support, cooling technology and foams. The company’s most awarded mattress is the Helix Midnight Luxe, a hybrid that has a medium feel that the company claims is not too soft or too firm.
If that doesn’t suit you, the company also sells the softer Sunset and Moonlight models. Conversely, if you need something that falls into the firm category, look into the Twilight and Dawn. Beyond firmness levels, Helix’s mattresses can address specific sleeping styles and needs. The brand offers the Dusk Luxe, which it claims is great for couples who have different preferences; the “Plus” for big and tall sleepers; and a kids option. All that’s to say: There’s a mattress model to accommodate just about all preferences at Helix. The one downside is that the brand currently doesn’t offer many in-store experiences and primarily operates online.
Not sure which mattress to pick? Helix’s Sleep Quiz can point you to the ideal mattress. Forbes Vetted team members have also personally tested the Helix Midnight, the Helix Sunset and the Helix Midnight Luxe, so check out our reviews if you want to know more about how these mattresses perform.

If you’re looking for a quality mattress delivered and set up in your home for you, Saatva is a great place to start. The company currently offers 11 different mattresses, including hybrid, memory foam, latex and adjustable options, as well as beds designed for heavier people and children. Its bestselling mattress, the Saatva Classic, comes in three firmness levels—plush soft, luxury firm and firm—so you’re able to select what’s best for you.
While Saatva is an online company, you can try its mattresses at any one of its 16 showrooms across the U.S. If you’d rather test out a mattress in your own home, Saatva’s lengthy 365-night trial period gives you plenty of time to make a final decision. What’s more, the company offers free white-glove delivery, so your mattress is delivered flat and placed exactly where you want it by professionals.
For more about Saatva mattresses, check out our reviews of the Saatva HD, designed specifically for larger people, and the Saatva Rx, for people with back pain.

Avocado is the leading retailer for sustainable, organic mattresses. The company offers eight different beds, including crib mattresses and a vegan mattress. Its top-rated option, the Avocado Green Mattress, is a hybrid that uses a number of organic materials, including latex, cotton and wool. You can get this mattress in a plush, medium or firm model.
The company has nearly every certification you can think of for its materials and business practices: It holds GreenGuard Gold certifications for its mattresses and bedding, meaning the products meet low chemical emissions limits and are safe for indoor spaces. It’s also a Certified B-Corp, a designation that shows the company has met a variety of social and environmental performance criteria. That’s just to name a few of Avocado’s certifications, though—you can learn about others on its website. Customers can order Avocado’s mattresses online or visit one of the brand’s stores.

Nectar mattresses are among our readers’ all-time favorite beds. They’re designed to accommodate a variety of sleepers, as the company’s three mattress options each come in memory foam and hybrid versions. The Forbes Vetted team’s preferred mattress from this brand is the Nectar Luxe—it’s the company’s tallest and most supportive bed, and also offers great temperature regulation.
Nectar’s mattresses come with a 365-night trial period and lifetime warranty. However, Nectar offers a bed-in-box style of delivery, which allows you to skip in-person delivery scheduling or additional setup fees. In fact, Nectar is on our list of the best mattresses in a box you can buy. Nectar’s mattresses are also CertiPUR-US-certified, meaning that the foam they’re made of is free of certain toxic chemicals. You can order online or shop at one of the brand’s partnering mattress stores, and the company gives you the option to add a fresh set of sheets, a pillow and a mattress protector to your order, too.
Our team has tested the Nectar Memory Foam Mattress and the Nectar Classic Hybrid Mattress to help you get a better understanding of what it’s like to sleep on a Nectar bed.
