49ers’ Christian McCaffrey suffered possible season-ending injury in Bills loss

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey’s season may be over.

The star running back will be positioned on hurt reserve after suffering a PCL injury in his left knee, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan informed pressreporters on Monday. With the hurt reserve positioning, McCaffrey will missouton at least 4 videogames, though Shanahan stated the injury would take 6 weeks of healing. San Francisco just has 5 regular-season videogames staying on its schedule.

McCaffrey suffered the injury in the 2nd quarter of Sunday’s 35-10 loss versus the Buffalo Bills. He stepped awkwardly on a sweep to the left on a snow-slicked field. The All-Pro went down nearly instantly for a 5-lawn loss. He went to the sideline and was tookalookat in the medical campingtent. He was atfirst ruled as doubtful to return before being ruled out. 

Additionally, 49ers backup running back Jordan Mason will be positioned on hurt reserve due to a high-ankle sprain. As a result, novice Isaac Guerendo will endupbeing the group’s brand-new lead running back. 

The trip was McCaffrey’s 4th this season after the 2023 offensive gamer of the year missedouton the Niners’ initially 8 videogames with Achilles tendinitis.
