The reigning NFC North champion Detroit Lions are favored to claim the division title at the end of the NFL regular season — but they are not a shoo-in.
Last year, Detroit won its first conference title since 1993 and is now looking to repeat as division champions for the first time in franchise history.
However, after 15 weeks, the Lions are in a dead heat with the Minnesota Vikings.
Let’s take a look at the odds at FanDuel Sportsbook as of Dec. 18.
NFC NORTH DIVISION WINNER ODDS
Detroit Lions: -290 (bet $10 to win $13.45 total)
Minnesota Vikings: +220 (bet $10 to win $32 total)
Green Bay Packers: +55000 (bet $10 to win $5,510 total)
Of the four NFC North squads, only two are really in contention for the division crown.
Chicago has been eliminated from postseason contention, and the Packers are two games back of Detroit and Minnesota, and have an 0-3 record against the Lions and Vikings combined.
So, that leaves us with two.
On the year, both Detroit and Minnesota are 12-2, after the Lions saw their 11-game win streak come to an end in Week 15. Meanwhile, the Vikings are riding a seven-game win streak, after beginning the season 5-0 before losing back-to-back games in Weeks 7 and 8.
Currently, Detroit has a win over Minnesota, a 31-29 triumph in Week 7. The Vikings will travel to Ford Field in Week 18, in a game that could decide the winner of the NFC North, as well as the top seed in the NFC as a whole.
The Lions (-6.5) are at Chicago in Week 16, while the Vikings (-3.5) will travel to Seattle.
