Asian markets follow Wall St up however headed for yearly loss

NEW YORK — Stocks fell in earlymorning trading on Wall Street Friday as significant indexes close out a miserable year with stickingaround issues about stubbornly hot inflation and a prospective economicdownturn.

The S&P 500 fell 0.8% as of 10: 15 a.m. Eastern. The index, which is thoughtabout a standard for the wider market by financiers, is on track to end 2022 with a 20% loss. That would mark its worst loss giventhat the monetary crisis 14 years earlier.

The Nasdaq composite fell 1% and is on track for a much steeper yearly loss of 34%. The index is faring much evenworse this year duetothefactthat it is greatly made up of innovation stocks that haveactually been leading the wider market depression.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 224 points, or 0.7%, to 32,995. It is on track for a 9% loss this year.
