(Photo: Reuters) THIRUVANANTHPURAM – Landslides swept through tea estates and towns in southern India’s Kerala state on Tuesday, killing at least 106 individuals while they slept as unanticipated heavy rain collapsed hillsides and setoff gushes of mud, water and toppling stones The hillsides offered method after midnight following torrential rains on Monday in the Wayanad district of Kerala, a state understood as one of India’s most popular traveler locations. Most of the victims were tea estate employees and their households who lived in little homes or makeshift shelters. Television images revealed rescue employees rushing through rootedout trees and flattened tin structures as stones lay scattered throughout the hillsides and muddy water gushed through. Rescuers were being pulled throughout a stream, carrying stretchers and other devices to rescue individuals.
