Buttigieg alerts airlinecompanies to assistance tourists or face brand-new guidelines

WASHINGTON — Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has alerted airlines that his department might draft brand-new guidelines around guest rights if the providers puton’t provide more assistance to tourists caught by flight cancellations and hold-ups.

Buttigieg is asking airlinecompany CEOs to, at a minimum, supply accommodations for travelers stranded overnight at an airport and offer out meal coupons for hold-ups of 3 hours or longer when the disturbance is triggered by something in the airlinecompany’s control.
