BAKU, Azerbaijan — Azerbaijan officially used Tuesday to signupwith the BRICS bloc of establishing economies, a day after Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s goto to the oil-rich South Caucasus nation to coast up local ties and protected Moscow’s under-pressure trade paths.
The statement from the foreign ministry in Azerbaijan’s capital, Baku, comes as the BRICS alliance hasactually seen a significant growth. For over a years, the bloc consistedof simply 5 countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates signedupwith in January, and Saudi Arabia has stated it’s thinkingabout doing so as well.
The club currently consistsof some of the world’s mostsignificant oil manufacturers, and accounts for well over a quarter of the world’s GDP. Its members
