Delta Air Lines will get to stay at Love Field, the airport closest to downtown Dallas
DALLAS — Delta Air Lines will be able to continue operating flights at Dallas Love Field for another 6 years, under a settlement authorized by the city council.
The contract, which passed without dispute this week, appears to end a long court battle over gates at the city-owned airport near downtown Dallas that is controlled by Southwest Airlines.
Delta hasactually shared one of the airport’s 20 gates with Southwest giventhat 2014, and presently utilizes it for up to 5 day-to-day flights inbetween Dallas and Atlanta. Southwest, which subleased the gate from United Airlines, has attempted to getridof competing Delta for numerous years.
