Ford to appeal $1.7 billion decision in Georgia truck crash

WOODSTOCK, Ga. — Ford Motor Co. strategies to appeal a $1.7 billion decision versus the carmanufacturer after a pickup truck crash that declared the lives of a Georgia couple, a business agent stated Sunday.

Jurors in Gwinnett County, simply northeast of Atlanta, returned the decision late last week in the yearslong civil case including what the complainants’ legalrepresentatives called precariously faulty roofings on Ford pickup trucks, attorney James Butler Jr. stated Sunday.

Melvin and Voncile Hill were eliminated in April 2014 in the rollover wreck of their 2002 Ford F-250. Their kids Kim and Adam Hill were the complainants in the wrongful death case.

“While our compassions go out to the Hill household, we do not think the decision is supported by the proof, and we strategy to appeal,” Ford stated in a declaration to The Associated Press on Sunday.
