United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby askedforgiveness Friday for hopping on a personal airplane to get out of the New York location earlier this week while thousands of United guests were stranded since the airlinecompany canceled so numerous flights.
“Taking a personal jet was the incorrect choice duetothefactthat it was insensitive to our clients who were waiting to get house,” Kirby stated in a declaration released by the airlinecompany. “I allthebest saysorry to our clients and our group members who haveactually been working 24/7 for numerous days — frequently through extreme weathercondition — to take care of our clients.”
Kirby concluded by appealing “to muchbetter show my regard for the devotion of our group members and the commitment of our consumers.”
Kirby captured the personal flight from Teterboro, New Jersey, to Denver on Wednesday, when United canceled 750 flights — one-fourth of its schedule for the day. That figure does not consistof flights on United Express.
United hasactually canceled almost 3,000 flights this week, with the biggest number at its Newark Liberty International Airport center in New Jersey, which was struck by thunderstorms for much of the week.
