WASHINGTON — Hackers are requiring $6 million in bitcoin from the operator of the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport for files they took throughout a cyberattack last month and published on the dark web this week, an airport authorities stated Wednesday.

The Port of Seattle, which owns and runs the airport, has chose not to pay, the authorities stated.

The airport formerly connected the attack to a ransomware gang called Rhysida, and now the FBI is carryingout a criminal examination, stated Lance Lyttle, the port’s handling director of airtravel.

Lyttle informed a U.S. Senate committee that the airport appears to have stopped the attack, however the hackers were able to secure some information.
