Kellogg loses UK battle to block restriction on sweet cereal promotions

LONDON — Breakfast food giant Kellogg Co. lost a legal quote Monday to block brand-new anti-obesity steps in England prohibiting the promo of sweet cereals.

The U.S. business that makes Coco Pops, Frosted Flakes, Frosties and Rice Krispies had challenged the U.K. federalgovernment over guidelines taking impact in October limiting the promo of foods high in fat, sugar or salt.

A High Court judge declined the business’s argument that the guidelines puton’t take into account the dietary worth of milk included to cereal.

Judge Thomas Linden stated that blending a breakfast cereal that’s high in sugar with milk does not modification the reality that it’s high in sugar.
