NEW YORK — The National Labor Relations Board hasactually discovered benefit in a union charge that Amazon broke labor law in New York City’s Staten Island by holding necessary employee conferences to encourage its staffmembers not to unionize.

The labor board has in the past permitted staffmembers to required such conferences, which are regularly held at business like Amazon and Starbucks throughout union drives.

But in a memo sentout to the firm’s field workplaces last month, NLRB General Counsel Jennifer Abruzzo stated she thinks the conferences, frequently called “captive audience conferences,” are at chances with labor law, and would lookfor to get them banned.

The company’s decision was shared Friday with an lawyer representing the Amazon Labor Union, which submitted the charge in the lead-up to the veryfirst effective U.S. arranging effort in the retail huge’s history.

The lawyer, Seth Goldstein, called it “a huge triumph.”
