GULFPORT, Miss. — A Mississippi Gulf Coast diningestablishment and its co-owner it were sentenced Monday on federal charges of mislabeling economical imported seafood as regional premium fish.
Mary Mahoney’s Old French House, established in Biloxi in 1962 in a structure that dates to 1737, was sentenced to 5 years of probation and purchased to pay almost $1.5 million. That consistedof a $149,000 criminal great and $1.35 million in forfeit for some of the cash it got from deceptive sales of seafood, the Justice Department stated.
Mahoney’s co-owner/manager, Anthony Charles Cvitanovich, 55, was sentenced to 3 years of probation and 4 months of home detention. He was purchased to pay a $10,000 fine. On May 30, Cvitanovich pleaded guilty to a felony Information charging him with misbranding of seafood throughout 2018 and 2019.
