Five different surges were heard at the back of the Central Criminal Court at 10: 30 GMT, the Criminal Bar Association (CBA) stated, and black smoke was seen coming from the structure. A BBC pressreporter stated all the lights flickered inside the courthouse and went out before a fire alarm went off. Juries were sentout home and accuseds on remand were returned to jail. Judge Mark Lucraft KC, the Recorder of London and most senior judge at the Old Bailey, informed the BBC the structure would stay closed on Thursday and emergencysituation work was taking location. An electrical substation in Warwick Lane was included, according to the fire service. Judges and lawyers in black dress and wigs, as well as jurors and court personnel were seen standing exterior the structure waiting for updates – however were lateron informed to return to court on Thursday. Among the prominent trials deserted for the day was that of rich aristocrat Constance Marten and her partner, Mark Gordon, who are implicated of the murder of their newborn infant.
