The effigy, understood as a tableau, was fulfilled with boos from the crowd. The historical town is well-known for its dynamic Bonfire Night event, which fell on 4 November this year. The crowds were not discouraged by a yellow weathercondition caution and travel disturbance triggered by the current Storm Ciarán. They revealed up to the occasion inspiteof rain, roadway closures, transport problems, and a plea for individuals to participatein regional bonfires. Seven bonfire societies each produces an effigy, which generally show present affairs, and are lateron burned in fields outdoors Lewes – along with a conventional Guy Fawkes.
