During the last week of July, Russia installed its biggest attacks in 8 months in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk area, taking a string of settlements in an obvious quote to cut off secret supply paths and force a mass Ukrainian retreat.
At the verysame time, Ukraine scored a high number of strikes on Russian energy facilities and inhabited Crimea, recommending that its technique of degrading Russian air defences is working.
Russian attacks focused on main and southern Donetsk – from locations west of Bakhmut, which fell in May last year, to locations west of Avdiivka, which was lost in February, down to locations west of the city of Donetsk, which pro-Moscow separatists have regulated because 2014 – a line about 130km (80 miles) long.
Russian forces haveactually pushed their benefit in these locations to avoid Ukraine from digging established defences, and they have inched forward for months, swallowing settlements at a shocking expense to their own soldiers.
