LAS VEGAS — Sony chairman and CEO Tom Rothman did not hold back Monday on the opening night of CinemaCon in Las Vegas, advising a crowd of theater owners and exhibitors that Sony is and was the “only significant studio devoted totally to theatrical.”
The studio’s movement photos group president Josh Greenstein included that while other studios explored with streaming and reduced theatrical windows over the past coupleof years, Sony remained the course.
“Just 2 years ago in the throes of the pandemic, there was a lot of sound, a lot of talk about the death of exhibit,” Greenstein stated on phase at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. “The future, everybody stated, was streaming.”
Now some of those studios who rotated are “realizing the worth of unique theatrical windows and reversing course,” he stated. Some banners are even getting into the theatrical videogame in a significant method.
