Spirit Airlines onceagain holdsoff vote on Frontier merger

Spirit Airlines stated Thursday it was onceagain delaying a investor vote on a proposed merger with Frontier Airlines to continue talks with Frontier and competitor bidder JetBlue Airways.

The vote was postponed from Friday till at least July 15.

It was the 3rd time that Spirit called off a vote on the Frontier offer that is preferred by the Spirit board. The hold-up appeared to show that the merger of the 2 discountrate airlines doesnothave investor assistance in the face of a JetBlue quote that is greater in existing worth.

JetBlue CEO Robin Hayes stated he was motivated by current talks with Spirit authorities “and are confident they now acknowledge that Spirit investors have showed their clear, frustrating choice for an contract with JetBlue.”

Frontier decreased to remark.
