A prominent labor organizer has resigned from Starbucks, stating the business required her out duetothefactthat of her union management.
Jaz Brisack, a barista who assisted lead the unionization of a shop in downtown Buffalo, New York, late last year, stated Wednesday that her last day at the business will be Sept.18 The vote at Brisack’s shop kicked off a motion; giventhat then, at least 238 U.S. Starbucks shops have voted to unionize, according to the National Labor Relations Board.
In a letter to her supervisor, which Brisack shared with The Associated Press, Brisack stated Starbucks has declined to accommodate her schedule demands for 7 months. Brisack stated that has hurt spirits at the shop, where her colleagues have had to cover for her when she is missing.
“Starbucks has intentionally made my continued work at the business difficult,” stated Brisack, who has worked at the business for almost 2 years.
