Members of the United Auto Workers union on Thursday rescinded an boost in strike pay that hadactually been authorized earlier in their yearly convention.
The Detroit Free Press reported that after some delegates raised issues about the possible expense of the $500 a week strike pay, it was dropped. But a previous boost in strike pay that union authorities made earlier this year stays in location. So striking employees will still get $400 a week, up from the previous $275.
Another modification that will permit strike pay to start on the veryfirst day of a walkout rather of the 8th was permitted to stand.
