Heads of UN companies state they cannot do their tasks ‘in the face of frustrating requirement and continuous violence’.

Leading United Nations authorities have required “an end to the terrible human suffering and humanitarian disaster” in the Gaza Strip almost one year into the war inbetween Israel and Palestinian group Hamas.
“These atrocities should end,” they stated on Monday in a declaration signed by the heads of UN companies that consistedof the World Food Programme and the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) along with other help groups as world leaders collected in New York for the yearly UN General Assembly.
“Humanitarians needto have safe and unobstructed gainaccessto to those in require,” they stated. “We cannot do our tasks in the face of frustrating requirement and continuous violence.”
The UN has long grumbled of barriers to getting help into Gaza throughout the war and dispersing it amidst “total lawlessness” in the besieged Palestinian enclave. Nearly 300 humanitarian help employees, more than two-thirds of them UN personnel, haveactually been eliminated.
