DETROIT — U.S. automobile security regulators will not lookfor a recall after a seven-year examination into grievances declaring that Dodge and Ram lorries can roll away after being moved into park.

The issue was comparable to one that was blamed in the death of Star Trek star Anton Yelchin, although the business was in the procedure of remembering his 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee to address the problem.

The examination, opened in December of 2016, covered nearly 1.3 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks from the 2013 to 2017 design years, as well as Dodge Durango SUVs from 2014 through2017

At problem were electronic dial-like rotary equipment selector knobs that were brand-new at the time and various from previous mechanical shifters that utilized a lever to choose equipments. The knobs are turned to the left or right and have detents that click into equipment.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states in files published on its site Monday that it and Stellantis, previously Fiat Chrysler, had got almost 1,500 grievances that the cars would roll after chauffeurs put them in park.
