PHUKET: The Department of Tourism (DoT) prepares to promote Thailand as a friendly location for Muslim travelers. The DoT and the personal sector held a focus group conversation on Islamic tourist on Wednesday in Phuket, targeting high-end visitors from the Middle East. It was the 4th conversation with the personal sector in the hospitality market after the veryfirst 3 onlineforums were held in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Chon Buri last month. According to Athuek Phrasenmoon, director of the DoT’s Tourist Attractions Development Division, Muslim travelers are now a primary target group for the international tourist market due to this being the fastest-growing market with high costs power.
