The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) is reportedly set to introduce significant changes to its internship scheme, aiming to expand its reach and make it more inclusive. Sources indicate that the program, which currently includes the top 500 companies, could be extended to cover the top 1,000 firms. Banks and financial institutions are also likely to be brought under its ambit.
In a bid to make the program more accessible, the MCA is considering relaxing the eligibility criteria. The age limit, presently set at 21 to 24 years, may be widened to include candidates aged 18 to 26 years. Additionally, educational qualifications could see a major shift, with degree pursuers and even those without a high school diploma potentially becoming eligible.
