Recapping Last Year
Scottie Scheffler is the defending champion from the 2022 Masters tournament. He won the tournament by three strokes over Rory McIlroy, with a final score of 10-under 278.
Last year, Scheffler finished off a stellar 56-day stretch of golf with clinching his fourth victory at the Masters. Despite a four-putt on the last hole, he finished the final round with a score of 1-under 71. Scheffler had tied for the lead with Cameron Smith when he chipped in for a birdie on the third hole, while Smith made a bogey. No other player came close to catching Scheffler for the remainder of the tournament. Rory McIlroy made an impressive closing round, sinking a bunker shot for birdie on the 18th hole and tying the record for the lowest closing round at the Masters with a score of 64.
Who are the Masters Favorites?
Scheffler (+700) is first among the top three current favorites to take home the green jacket. The other two are last year’s runner-up, Rory McIlroy (+750), and Jon Rahm (+800), the No. 2 player in the sport, per the World Golf rankings.
What are the odds of Tiger Woods winning the Masters?
Last year, Tiger Woods recorded a score of 13-over-par and finished 47th. This was the worst score of his professional career at Augusta. In 2023, Woods hopes to bounce back, and his odds are currently set at +5500 to win it all.
What’s new to the course in 2023?
A change has been made to the tee on the par-5 13th, resulting in an extension of approximately 35 yards, which now measures 545 yards. As a result, it is anticipated that players will require a 4-iron or greater club to reach the green in two shots.
