2024 NFL MVP race, odds: Josh Allen heavy favorite, Lamar Jackson second

2 minutes, 16 seconds Read

At one point, it looked like this season’s NFL MVP award was Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen’s to lose.

And based on the most recent odds, that could still be the case.

Just three weeks ago, his odds to win the award were sitting at -900. After the Bills barely beat the Patriots in Week 16 24-21, he moved to -550.

With the regular season in the books, Josh Allen remains the heavy favorite at -450.

Let’s take a look at the MVP oddsboard at DraftKings Sportsbook as of Jan. 7.

After the Christmas Day games ended, Allen lengthened slightly to -240.

But then the Bills defeated the Jets 40-14. In that matchup, Allen had 182 yards and two touchdowns through the air, complemented by 17 yards and one TD on the ground.

While Allen didn’t see action in the Bills’ 23-16 Week 18 loss to the Patriots, his odds moved to -450.

Another QB who saw his odds shift after the regular season ended is Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson, as he moved to +320 from +225.

On a recent episode of “The Facility”, co-host Chase Daniel praised Jackson, saying that he is proving to the world that “he is that dude.”

“You see him, time and time again, taking over these football games with his arm. It’s something we haven’t seen consistently in his entire career,” Daniel noted.

“He’s right back into the thick of the MVP race.”

Has Lamar Jackson done enough to win MVP this season?

Saquon Barkley is another player whose name has come up in the MVP conversation.

Barkley’s odds had gotten as short as +1400 before the regular season ended, but now he’s at a long +8000 and third on the board.

However, FOX Sports NFL Kickoff analyst Julian Edelman contends that Barkley should be considered.

“Saquon Barkley should win the MVP,” he said recently. “And it’s because of the story. The team that he grew up hating, he has a 2,000-yard season for.

“Let’s throw the running backs a bone.”
